ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Vuzix® Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI), ("Vuzix" or, the "Company"), a leading supplier of Smart Glasses and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies and products for the consumer and enterprise markets, is pleased to announce that the Vuzix M300 Smart Glasses are now supported by the Vuforia^® AR platform from PTC (NASDAQ: PTC). Vuforia is the most widely used software platform for AR application development in the world.

Vuforia support for the Vuzix M300 Smart Glasses will enable users to improve workflows and open new market opportunities in the enterprise.  The Vuzix M300 is an industry proven personal display and wearable computing device that has been successfully deployed within the enterprise to provide hands-free mobile computing.

PTC worked closely with Vuzix to optimize Vuforia Engine for the M300. PTC's device-level expertise was critical to best utilize the M300's Intel Atom processor and Android OS. Vuforia support for the Vuzix M300 will give more than 400,000 Vuforia developers a new hands-free option for deploying AR solutions in the enterprise.

Vuforia developers can start today by downloading the Unity 2017.3 Beta, or the Vuforia early access release for the Vuzix M300 on the Vuforia Developer Portal. The Vuzix M300 has extensive physical distribution channels and is currently shipping devices into 45 countries across the globe with plans underway to expand distribution to 55 countries worldwide.
